Black watch

Diver's watch. I bought it on auction at Tradera.se for SEK 810, which I think is a bargain. (On e-Bay it can be found for GBP 145 or US $230).My very first watch was a Seiko. A handwound 17 jewel which was presented to me upon starting the first grade at school. So, this is some kind of blast from the past.

Objects of desire XII
I have desired these desert boots from Clarks for about a year.
They have been sitting in the window at Lester's shoe-shop on Södra Larmgatan in Göteborg, Sweden. Every time I've passed the window, I've had to avert my eyes.
No more! As of yesterday, I am the happy owner of this very fine pair.

Wheelin' an' dealin'
It turned out the Durian 86a were all out of stock, everywhere. So what else is there to do but reassess the situation and just go for it anyway? So, a set of purple 4 prez 83a it is. I tried them out yesterday and I must say they feel cool, very cool! I've had to redesign my deck, which is now 101cm. It's been re-christened Purple Haze.

Now boarding
As you may have seen in my earlier posts, I now have a pair of Holey trucks and made a decision about the Orangatang Durian 86A wheels. For the completion of my summer project I started introspection on the ultimate koan: Which deck ?
Just as I did so, the stars, by some obscure happenstance, aligned themselves in a metaphysical manner, resulting in a Facebook message from my friend Kim. To make a long and rather elaborate story essentially shorter, he sent me these designs and we're off building a batch together in my carport this summer along with the teenagers in my tribe.

A case for Magrette
I never thought I would desire a hybrid watch with a japanese movement, but this watch (and the whole concept -great storytelling there! -of this New Zealand watch company is so cool!) is suave. I will feel cool wearing this. Not only because it reminds me of "home" and looks fantastic -it's only made in 500 pieces. Good enough for me.

My next set of wheels
So, as you may have seen in an earlier post, I've already aquired a pair of Holey trucks. My next object(s) of desire are a set of 75mm Orangatang Durian with a 45mm tread and 86a hardness.
Why? Because I've tasked myself with learning how to slide my longboard this summer, and I'm hoping they'll be perfect for the job...

Hotel again
This may soon be the umpteenth time. But the room was nice, the view was panoramic and the bed was comfortable. Life could be worse!

Yamaha Neo's revisited
Well, I wrote about my Yamaha Neo's a few years ago when it was brand new. I loved it, and I wrote:
"This is one of the things I drive. It's a Yamaha Neo's 50cc scooter. I like the light blue colour, and I like that it does 60 km/h without much effort. On my premier-drive through the newly built Götatunneln, I noted something peculiar to that stretch of road -I hit 72 km/h".
The thing is, I now ride the new icon of future cool, the Honda Zoomer. It's a solo-experience machine, slightly rebel and just a tad geek. I actually bought it for its sound and because it reminded me of my childhood Tonka Toy heavy trucks.
But, I miss having the option of taking my woman for a ride into town once in a while, having the luggage capacity and sitting well...
I've thought of buying the überclassic of all classics, the Vespa.... but I don't know...
perhaps it's too iconic?

My new favourites Superflex is a danish group of artists, whose projects are concerned with spotlighting democracy, power, consumption... The groups global projects raises questions about branding, copyright laws and the balance between producer and consumer.

Hotelroom again
Attended a conference on salesmanship and how to become a better negotiatior. This is my hotelroom. Functional, but really boring.
Oh, well. At least that gave me a good excuse to fall asleep.

Icon of cool
The Zippo lighter has got to go up on the list of cool things you must own. It's in no way perfect. You fill it with gasoline by removing it from the case and dripping gas (petrol) onto the cotton absorbent filling. The gas will evaporate eventually, so you have to check it every now and then. If you fill it too much, gas will leak out, onto your leg. This hurts!
Anyway, once you get the knack of this, you have one cool lighter. Now, spend some time watching Hollywood movies to pick up new ways of flicking it open and lighting it. Preferably in a lightning-fast onehanded fashion.

When is enough enough?
Apparently, the swedish Lotto has now reached a record 183 million SEK. That would suit me just fine. The only trouble is, I wouldn't dare tell anyone!
I would have to take some time off to do some hard thinking about what to do with it all. Actually, I already have a plan and it goes something like this:
I'm presently 45 years old and I hope I have about 40 or so more years to go... Supposing I gave myself the equivalent of an annual net salary of 1 million SEK, or 83 333 SEK every month and therefore put away roughly 40 million to cover that, the money gaining interest.... I would still have more than a 140 million SEK too foolishly squander on philantrophy!
So; imagine the fun one could have, investing in whole villages, starting schools, enhancing healthcare and reducing extreme poverty... Wow!
Oh yeah, I pledge to the above if I do win that sum.
So, here's keeping my fingers crossed.
